    Introduction to Discord Moderator

As a moderator your job is to make sure that our discord members are abiding by the rules of the server. This does not include enforcing any RCG regulation on our RCG members, this enforcement will be done through the organization's chain of command (Leadership), which Discord Moderators are separate to. It is vital that as a moderator you are as active as possible on the Discord server. Checking text channels and reporting any issues the server may be having in its functionality. It must also be said that as a Moderator it is strongly encouraged that you interact with the community so that members trust you. Encouraging activity on the server will be where you will spend the majority of your time as a moderator.

    Discord Moderation

This section focuses especially on the role of Moderators on the discord server. As enforcers of our discord regulation, your job is to record violations of our regulation and to when necessary talk to members of their behavior.

When it comes to vulgarity and language these are the following steps you must take, first screenshot the message for evidence, then delete the message, next contact the member in question of why their message was removed as concisely as possible (it violates rule x due to it being y).

When it comes to miss use of discussion or voice channels, simply calmly explain to the member why it is not appropriate to use that channel for that purpose and redirect them as to where they should be posting. For example if someone in general discussion is asking if people wish to play a game of league, you would redirect that member to the League of Legends LFG channel. In other cases they may be using a format incorrectly that they need to use for a particular channel, the LFG channel for example. In this case just gently point them towards the format they should be using.

When recording evidence of screenshots, please make sure all evidence is placed in the screenshot evidence discord text channel under the Moderator Channels category.

    ModMail Guide

ModMail is our main source of feedback from our members, this is where members will send messages to you Moderators and the Council on matters that concern them. The main purpose of the Moderators is to monitor incoming messages and to respond to messages when possible. If a question is asked and you do not know what the answer is, please refer to a Council member and we will assist you.

The process of ModMail in its technically is fairly simple. When a member DM’s the ModMail bot with a question, a text channel will automatically be created on the server, allowing you to converse with the member. When replying to the member you must use the command: =areply <message> (everything in <> is where your message, do not actually write <message>). When closing a ticket (after it has been resolved) you will then use the command =aclose <reason> (please make sure you write a brief reason as to why it has been closed). There are other commands but these are the main ones you will need to use. A list of the other commands can be found here: Commands - ModMail. When it comes to blacklisting that will be done through conjunction with The Council. Do not blacklist someone without having done so. This also applies to whitelisting a member.

    Matters of Discipline

As previously stated a discord moderators role is to ensure members are following the rules we have put in place on the server. Any RCG member discipline matters will be handled by their direct level of COC , you may however bring it to the attention of The Council in the Moderator Discussion channel.

An important factor to remember as a discord moderator is making sure you are representing us in the best possible light. Although we may sometimes have to punish our members, the first response should always be measured and calm. We do not rise to any insults or anger that our members may project towards us. If you are finding a member to be particularly vulgar, bring it to the attention of The Council.

You are not in the position to punish members, you can interact with members to make them aware when they break regulation and they were perhaps unaware of it. However if the member then repeatedly ignores you or commits a break in regulation to a severe degree. You must contact a Council Member who will then assess the situation.
